Spot X Surfcasting New Zealand is an A4 size book containing 200 pages packed with surfcasting locations all around the New Zealand Coast. Each listing comes with a GPS mark, target species, a list of other species that can be caught there, methods and rigs to employ, best baits, and if berley can be used, the best tides and seasons of the year to fish, the best time of day and wind direction, the level of angler experience the location is best suited to, along with the level of fitness required to fish it, along with access points and additional fishing tips.
The list covers a mixture of spots from wharves and jetties to far-off rock ledges and open shingle beaches. It doesn’t cover every good fishing spot; nor does it pretend to. Each spot also includes a small map with a red X that marks the spot.
The author Mark Draper has enlisted quite a few experts from around the country to contribute their good surfcasting spots to the book. The experts include Ross Woodhouse, Harley Scott, Steve Shadwell, Pete lamb, Greg Smeal, Lance Pulman, Graham Stevenson, Paul Shaw, Mavis, Rob Barker, John Vowless, Kane Wigglesworth and Hamish Roper. That is a very impressive list or anglers.
Spot X Surfcasting New Zealand by Mark Draper is an all colour, soft cover book, that is an essential surfcasting spot location guide to all surfcasters, beginners in particular, and especially the travelling angler wishes to try out a completely new area for the first time.

Book Terminology
Tanning - age tanning or browning/yellowing occurs over time on the pages of books, tanning tends to start on the outside of the pages and progresses inward over time, often creating a brownish or yellowish border around the page edges.
Foxed / Foxing - age-related brown or brown-yellowish spotting of the paper caused by a chemical reaction over time.
Sunned - damage done to a book cover or dust jacket caused by exposure to direct sunlight.
Closed Tear - indicates a torn page in which no material has been lost. A closed tear can be pressed back into place or sometimes fixed with archival repair tape.
